From registration to your first visit to a dispensary.

Start by creating a patient account with the Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA), the state agency that oversees the medical cannabis program. The state registration fee is $25 and is valid for 6 years.

You can schedule your visit while your MCA registration is still processing — the two don't have to happen in order. We'll meet by telehealth to review your health history, medications, and your qualifying condition, and discuss whether medical cannabis is an appropriate treatment option for you.

Before we can enter your written certification, your MCA registration needs to be active and you'll need to provide us your MCA Patient ID number. We submit your certification directly to the MCA using that ID. If we're not able to certify you, there's no charge.

With an active state registration and certification, you can purchase medical cannabis products from any licensed Maryland dispensary.

Your MCA patient registration and your written certification renew on different schedules. Registration is valid for 6 years from the date it's issued. For adult patients, written certifications are valid for 1 year and need to be renewed annually (3 months for patients under 18). It's best to renew before your certification expires to avoid a lapse in access, but we can renew it anytime — and we send reminders a month before your certification is set to expire. Ready early?
